PREVENTIVE MEASURES FOR CORONAVIRUS(COVID-19)

What is Coronavirus(COVID-19)?

The virus is called 2019-n CoV that spread through respiratory droplets, which are liquids that may come out when we cough and sneeze.Coronavirus causes acute, mild respiratory infection (common colds). As the deadly virus spreads, more and more people are implementing the preventive measures. As a healthcare professional there are lots of preventive measures that can apply.


What are the symptoms of Coronavirus (COVID-19)?


Coronavirus causes respiratory illness with an early symptoms of fever, cough, difficulty in breathing and can lead to pneumonia. These may appear as soon as 2 days or as long as 14 days after exposure to the virus. The severity of COVID-19 varies from mild or no symptoms to severe or sometimes fatal illness.


How to prevent the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19) infection?



  1. Wash your hands frequently. With water and soap or use an alcohol based hand rub if your hands are not visibly dirty.

  2. Practice respiratory hygiene. When coughing and sneezing cover your mouth and nose with flexed elbow or tissue. Discard the tissue immediately into a closed bin and clean your hands with alcohol hand rub or soap and water.

  3. Maintain social distancing.

  4. Maintain at least 1 meter (3 feet) distance between yourself and other people, particularly those who are coughing, sneezing and have a fever.

  5. Avoid touching your eyes , nose and mouth. Our hands touches many surfaces which can be contaminated with the virus. If you touch your eyes, nose or mouth with your contaminated hands, you can transfer the virus from the surface to yourself.

  6. If you have fever, cough and difficulty breathing, seek medical care early.

  7. As a general precaution, practice general hygiene measures when visiting live animal markets, wet markets or animal product markets.

  8. Avoid consumption or raw or undercooked animal products.
